Rollerblading exercises as a fitness workout
Skating is a great training! It works out the legs and the butt as good as the cycling or running. Rollerblading burns calories, has aerobic and anaerobic benefits.
Busy moms – literary we count each hour to get most of it. If fitness is in your agenda and you’ve don’t mind rollerblading – you may get a full body workout out of your skating session. Treat it more seriously and get the workout with the special rollerblading exercises that you make while skating.
Fitness rollerblading is fun, free and it saves your time. Both you and your child are out – enjoying the fresh air and the daylight.
I include rollerblading in my weekly training schedule twice a year: early autumns and late springs – when it’s not too hot to make this high intensity training.
It worked for me perfectly – I love rollerblading and high impact workouts and also it’s good to switch the type of the training to challenge the body even more. Fitness rollerblading is an ideal way to break out from the usual training routines.
i want to start rollerblading with my 2yo in a stroller. i’m about 5ft10in & am worried that i will be too tall to push a stroller comfortably in rollerblades. any recommendations for a good stroller? thanks! kandice
Hi Kandice,
Thanks for asking! No worries about the height (and yours is just perfect)!
The thing is – when rollerblading pushing stroller – the body leans forward, as you need to push a stroller with your arm in front of you. Therefore, a correct skating position makes you actually shorter than just when you’re standing straight full-height.

About the stroller – for 2yo, look at the bigger stroller, that would fit you kid for another couple of years. I would recommend to have a look at Joovy Zoom ATS and Baby Jogger FIT, also Schwinn/Instep Arrow might be an option. Joovy has very wide seat to accommodate growing child, very nice shock absorbers, also it’s really a big stroller, so your arms and back muscles will get a workout while rollerblading. FIT has very height seat height thanks to the curved canopy roof and it’s very lightweight, however, a seat width and a leg’s drop is less than Joovy’s. FIT has 1 inch higher handle bar. If thinking solely about rollerblading, I would go for FIT, however, my true love is Joovy.
Look at both and take the one which you like better from the look – both are equally great strollers.
Wish you a great purchase, great skating and share your experience with us!
Hi I’m looking for a good reasonable stroller to walk my 2 year old in while walking. I’m 5’2 with a very bad back and knees. Any thoughts? I have a chicco key fit one now and it’s alright because the handlebar adjusts, but I still find myself leaning forward sometimes. Pls email me.
I take my daughters both under 3 long distance rollerblading in the park and all over town everyday in the early morning for a few hours, I usually hit 10 miles and up. We stop at parks for them to get out and play and bring lunch. I’m in the best shape of my life and am the happiest I’ve ever been. Skating fills me with joy!
Hi all,
An inline skating dad here. I’d been skating for years before my first son was born and I was so excited to take him skating. First mission was when he was one week old and we finally finished when he was five and his brother was four.
We never used a specialty sports stroller but probably should have for the speeds and distances we did.
One this that is vital – use a leash to connect you to the stroller. You do not want your stroller (& child) getting away from you.
My youngest is now 13 and he skates with me but I really miss the days skating with two young boys in the stroller. It was so much fun.
that’s really inspiring! How many miles and how often were you skating? That’s definitely a great great fun and the workout! A leash is absolutely a must – that’s true!
