A Real Mom Takes The Strollnetics Challenge
Maybe you’re wondering ‘Does Strollnetics really work?’ Or ‘Would Strollnetics work for me?’ To answer these questions, we’re putting Strollnetics to the test with a real mom who’s trying to shift her baby weight!
Meet the Mom
Venus A. Castro, a sporty mom with a sense of adventure, has volunteered to be the face (and body!) of our Strollnetics experiment. Brave woman, right?
Living in the Bronx, NYC, Venus is 5’2” and weighs 130 lbs at the moment. She says that she put on 20 lbs during pregnancy, most of that being the baby.
After giving birth she was still about 10 lbs heavier than her pre-pregnancy weight, and she put on another 5 lbs, mostly around her midsection.
A self-confessed ‘grazer’, Venus admits that trying to find time to get to the gym is just an extra hassle in her already hectic life!
Venus says:
I used to run when I was in High School (years ago!). Since then, I have mainly exercised in gyms – treadmills, elliptical machines and weight training. During my pregnancy, I just did pre-natal yoga.
In 2006, I was in a car accident and I injured my lower back. I was instructed not to do high impact workouts like running – but I can do them now. Oh, and I haven’t rollerbladed in around 15 years!!
Last semester, I became a part-time student with access to an awesome gym and started again. But I found it so boring and was under a lot of time constraints because I had to pick up the baby. It was very hard to focus and push myself the way I had done in the past. This is why Strollnetics appeals to me so much!
My son’s sleeping habits aren’t very consistent. But he loves to be outside so I think this will work… I plan to exercise for an hour to an hour and a half a day. There’s a reservoir near where I live and they are actually building a running/bike trail around it right now!
Our Vision for Venus
We’re going to give Venus back her sporty shape, and help her shed those unwanted pounds – gradually but with long-lasting results.
Leaner, slimmer, with toned arms and buttocks, we’re going to help Venus rediscover the goddess she was born to be!
The Go Venus Workout Plan:
Timing: 6 months
How often: Venus will work out every second day, with weekends off.
Workout: Intense walking with the stroller 3x a week plus Strollnetics:
- fast walking for 1 hour plus Strollnetics Invisible Exercises on the go;
- 5 minutes of ‘Stand Up Stretching’ to finish the training session;
- Infusion of Fitness Rollerblading with the stroller once a week.
Diet: None!
Venus can eat what she wants, whenever she wants. She’ll drink water instead of soda, but wine, coffee and sweets are allowed – not such a major sacrifice, right?

GO VENUS!
I like your blog! I have started walking with my son (7 months) with his regular stroller and my jogging stroller should arrive today!
I’ll definitely be checking back to read more and find out how Venus is doing. I’m excited to try your tips to shape specific body parts – especially the buns portion 😉
Hi Victoria,
Thank you for the good words! The next Venus update will be published tomorrow! I hope you’ll find lots of inspiration there! So take care and keep walking!:-)
